Parkash Singh Badal - the grand old man of Punjab politics - began his political career as a Sarpanch and served the state as chief minister for five times.
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal, who straddled the politics of Punjab over seven decades and was chief minister of the state five times, died on Tuesday. He was 95. Badal had not been keeping well for some time and was admitted to the Fortis Hospital in Mohali near here over a week ago after he complained of uneasiness in breathing.
